Gameplay Strategy Video #2: Multi-City Play (SimCity Coming March 5, 2013)
Welcome back to Part Two of our SimCity Gameplay Strategy series featuring Lead Designer Stone Librande. Some time has gone by and Stone's Casino Empire is thriving. How should Stone customize his casino to pull in more tourists and make more Simoleons? By adding a celebrity stage, blackjack tables or more hotel rooms? Watch what happens when his city becomes so big he runs out of power! Casinos attract a lot of crime, but Stone can use the crime data layer to diagnose his crime problem and plop an impressive Police Precinct and Helipad upgrade to increase his coverage. When a disaster strikes, will Stone's neighbor Dan send fire trucks to Casino City to help rescue his Sims? With new multi-city play cities can work together to solve their problems. You can play with friends or control an entire region by yourself!
Check out Part 1 for the basic steps of building a city, growing population and placing infrastructure.

where you can screw your people, help them or turn against them
also i love how its not a timed based game for the buildings to build i hate those
one thing i thought of
on multiplayer you could have like a military to build an army and invade other people citys and bomb them as i see the engine can make
some pretty nice fire and smoke graphics
and i also hope that like planes crash and car get in accidents

How did Dan manage to build
How did Dan manage to build 20 skyscrapers in such a short time? without any surrounding residences, commercial, or industry? Come on guys, you have to see something seriously wrong with this. Make the cities border one another, easy solution.
You apparently don't get it.
You apparently don't get it. The very reason they didn't put the cities next to each other was solely because they were very serious about what you saw being what was being simulated. It would take up too much of a computer's resources to simulate directly adjacent cities as well as your own. They were bound by hardware constraints and are trying to make the game available to as many people as possible.

It's called magic...
It's called magic...
More precisely, it's called debugging and rigged mode. It's why the cities have tiny populations yet huge buildings because they want to show off everything without having to grow things themselves like the players would. It's something that game companies have done since who knows when, and it's really not a fair way to judge the game, since the devs are going to use exploits to make everything work for them and the promotion that the players will never get access to without serious programing skills (similar to the Valve rocket launcher in TF2).
Personally, I actually liked what was shown because it shows me that cities in the region actually work together this time as opposed to just sitting there waiting on me to do everything (I mean if a fire breaks out in the city, I don't want to constantly have to tell the fire crews to go out and put it out, likewise, if a massive forest fire breaks out in the region, I don't want to have to go into each individual city and tell anyone who I'm working with to tell their crews to go put it out... It's too much micro management of the wrong variety).
Well the real reason that Dan
Well the real reason that Dan can have so many skyscrapers is that there is a cut scene between when he says let's look back to my city and when he is in his city, so Dan must of had time to build his city.

Time can work at different
Time can work at different speeds from city to city. So Dan could build skyscrapers in a short period of time, plus density works on a stage of using roads, thus the ability to make more high class buildings.
The population with in the
The population with in the city is really low; unless the city is really unpopular it should at least have 40,000 people living there. But with evidence the crime system, that in my opinion is advanced data wise, could show that no one chooses to live there.

Region play looks a lot
Region play looks a lot better than I was expecting, especially since I can now focus on specializing cities rather than having them all be the "super city" who does everything.
Grew up playing the first
Grew up playing the first Simcity, then Simcity 2000 with SimChopper, this just brings me back to my childhood and I cant wait to play this game!

I'm really excite by this
I'm really excite by this game, but there's one point that is really problematic. It's the fact that the city's are only 2km per 2km. It's just too small! So I have a question for the maxis team, do the city's will possibly be bigger in the final game than how they look on the video? I'm sorry for my english, I'm living in Quebec and I don't talk english ;)
