Permalink Submitted by Erock2285 on Jan 13, 2013

I hope the graphics are improved to make the game look a little more realistic. I don't care all that much about graphics as much as I do game play but I was expected this new engine of thiers to look more.. well realistic. To me it looks very cartoonish. Hopefully this is still is the beta stage.

Permalink Submitted by Zugai on Jan 15, 2013

If you would watch some interviews or check blogs and stuff you would see it is supposed to look that way since they go for a "Model City" style, like if you were building props, buildings etc. for your model train at home.

Permalink Submitted by GoblinPunch on Jan 16, 2013

Maybe eventually there'll be a fan made mod where it'll be hi-res realistic. But like they said, it's going to be a 'model' like graphics.

Keep in mind, the glass box

Permalink Submitted by Keniwaful on Jan 16, 2013

Keep in mind, the glass box simulation engine is more realistic in the sense that it SIMULATES more realistically. There's not a new graphics engine. Also, you should remember that there are lots and lots of buildings, like factories, houses, etc that they need to design as 3d models. They've also got to script the day and night cycles, the people in it, when it appears, etc. THEN they'll work on textures.
Or maybe they do want a model-cartoony look. :\

Permalink Submitted by Sir-Behawolf on Jan 10, 2013

The suspense of waiting for a chance to play even a demo of this game is killing me I want to play this so much because after only watching the videos Sim City 4 seems to be lacking something major... but I'm trying to occupy myself with other games till I can play even a demo of this game, this is simply another "look at us you cant play yet but were close" kinda teaser trailer again, even if it is the intro, I simply cant wait for a playable version of this game, either completed or not, I want to create so many cities, I might (if included) play a 4 or 6 person map all by myself the first time through... I simply cant wait!

Permalink Submitted by top_jimmy44 on Jan 10, 2013

I was just thinking. Since SimCity is connected with EA Sports, and now that you can work with friends in this new version, what is stopping EA from integrating EA Sports games like Madden into this game. Imagine, you build your city into a metropolis and so do a bunch of your friends. The citizens demand a football stadium so you build one. And every week during football season, you log in and play your town's football game, or hockey, baseball, basketball, whatever.

Permalink Submitted by Sir-Behawolf on Jan 10, 2013

While granted this would be interesting, I see several flaws, errors, and difficulties doing this, both games would have to have a patch that would allow them to show all the possible buildings surrounding the stadium, and with that I dont think that the X-box could handle all that graphics load. Maybe in a new era that might be possible but before any of that happens I want to see snow, and the buildings that would be used to get rid of it, such as a road crew building, snowplows, salt trucks, the list goes on, but I think that this would be an interesting idea.

Permalink Submitted by 12345MasterC on Jan 12, 2013

I think the snow idea is awsome and there should also be rain storms with lighting, but I would love it if we were able to drive around the cites like in simcity 4. You could do missions that give you money. Or perhaps you could take over a cargo ship and use that to trade with other people. But also planes, transporting sims to other cities and it would be great to pass time, while your city is growing, They did it before they can do it again.

Permalink Submitted by SCUDthe on Jan 14, 2013

The graphics looks horrible! And why "no" to subways? And I hope that city area will not be so small. The first impression is very bad, no pre-order from me 100%.

Ok, really? I can help

Permalink Submitted by Sir-Behawolf on Jan 15, 2013

Ok, really? I can help explain this to you since you havent gotten it yet... One the graphics are not bad that is because its in the Alpha stage (as far as the public knows) which means while playable it is bug and glitch ridden with many problems still. Secondly the size is limited because of the new software "Glass Box" which is a half server half your computer ran program and it wouldn't be feasible to have a massive city and have every single building be able to shake, catch fire, and all the other animations unless your the top 0.05% of people with over priced super computers as a desk top.

And on a side note personally The graphics are at least 5x to 10x better than Sim city 4, and there are curvy roads, modifiable plopables, and everything (mostly) that sim city 4 wanted to be. Unfortunately the turn off for me is the lack of terraforming (which was shown at the E3 conference but wont be in the game)

Permalink Submitted by Sir-Behawolf on Jan 15, 2013

(I missed one thing) The subways are "not in the game" because they were replaced with their surface dwelling counterparts... street cars, I find this better because it will show you where the traffic is rather than "hiding" it under ground. That's another thing that this game is all about SHOWING how and where everything works or moves

Permalink Submitted by dawndoor on Jan 21, 2013

I see that people are continuously complaining about the graphics. I personally like the graphics. But I'm sure many people don't realize is that this Simcity looks like a place where sims from the Sims 3 would live. I'm positive I wasn't the only one who noticed the change in the look of sims between The Sims 2 and The Sims 3. The Sims 2 looked much more realistic than in 3. But 3 is soo much more in depth. That's how I feel this Simcity will be. Have faith fellow citybuilders... this will be great!!!
