I don't know why people complain the city size is too small...
Here is a link to the SimCity 5 Reddit AMA, the link is uncensored and unedited by the SimCity marketing department.
It is very important to note that without being constantly online you will not be able to play the game. The worst kind of DRM.
You would think EA would have learn't from Blizzard's experience with Diablo 3, apparently not though.
Don't support aggressive DRM. Don't buy this game.http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/14umm1/we_are_the_simcity_dev_team...
I have to disagree, I already pre-ordered along with 3 of my friends and it seems my guild from another game 4 of them are getting it. Gaming in the future, you have the right to vote with your wallet, but alas it won't stop people as myself whom enjoy a good idea. I am here for entertainment, not a movement. Keep your post at reddit.
SHUT UP!!!!!!Thats all a bunch of bull!!!Sure, you have to be online, but thats not a issue! I have already pre-ordered it,and I cant wait!!
this is one of my favorite cities! in demand careers for better employment
Yeah, if this is just a piece of one city, I'm happy. Ohh if only it were March already...
That city is HUGE! But I can't see any cars on the road...Draw distance issues?
if you look closely you can see cars near the larger buildings on the main road
those are barriers and maybe busses. I don't think this is a played city, they modeled it to show us how big the cities can be so we know that there's still plenty to do
yes you're definitely right
If cities are as big as on this picture, I would be happy. Still, I don't see what is so hard to make a bigger city area, like in SC3000 and SC4.
I think since you can see every detail and the buildings up close, I don't think they need to be much bigger, you can take advantage of the space, that looks like a fraction of that city on the size frame they said. they also said there will be bigger cities in the region like SC4 so we all may be in luck.
Hey! Some of us like the huge areas of SC4..
omg cant wait for march!!!
In past Simcity games I'd try to build cities with the highest population possible, and by doing that I'd always run out of room. I remember having to make the terrain as flat as I could just to fit more buildings in. It's been too long, and so far it looks like it was worth the wait.
The bottom line here is that we are looking at a scaled down awesome space that will allow us to build, create and become true strategists wayyyyy beyond our norm. This is the type of game that will launch others like The Sims did.
For me, a SimCity Die harder who still plays Sim City 3k as well as SimCity 4 (obviously) I can't wait! I have been waiting for this for years, YEARS!
this looks amazing...are these the final graphics and size of the game??
The world better not end on 12/21/12 because I want to play this game! March can't come soon enough.
EA Maxis thanks so much for all videos..and the chance to get into the beta.. this game looks so awesome.. love all the changes that I'v seen so far.. I pray I get a email saying I get to play the beta SOON!
I do wish that the cities were a bit larger. While the ability to play separate cities in the same region kind of makes up for it, the challenge and balancing act of managing a huge city was fun in itself. I for one have always wanted to see SimCity enlarged to not only include a playable area the size of a city, but the size of a small state perhaps. To be able to freely create artery roads and even create smaller towns and farming communities in the rural areas. Perhaps each county or district within the area could be managed the same way that the cities are managed in this game, but would still like to be able to design the linking infrastructure and rural areas.
Wow, I can't wait to build zones on angles!!! Simcity 2000 (urban renewal kit) is the reason I became a graphic designer. I've made a few masterpieces in all Simcity versions, but now being able to build zones on smooth curved angles like in this picture, the possibilities are endless!!!
Dear lord I remember Tinted Mill said "The possibillities are endles" as Simcity Societies 'motto' XD
Every single entity is a separate agent in this version of Simcity, the size restriction may have something to do with playability and performance.
