The second day of E3 is one of the longest days known to mankind... or videogame industry people. We open the doors at 10 AM PDT and close them promptly at 6 PM only to come back for one final day. The best way to describe E3 is long lines to see and or play games, back-to-back demos, interviews galore and a lunch that consists of soda, water and a breath mint if you’re lucky. In all seriousness, it’s pure fun.
Today, the house was packed the whole morning and throughout the day with the line queuing around. It’s a humbling thought that people want to line up just to get a peek at what you have been working on. We’re grateful for everyone’s enthusiasm and excitement for seeing the game.
Yesterday we were surprised by a visit by the mayor of LA, today we met with two people from the White House. Needless to say, SimCity was a hot destination. Hours later, the team is thrilled to go to dinner and start fresh on the final day. Today’s crowning achievement was being awarded Best of E3 by Electric Playground. Being nominated is an honor itself, being called the winner is a feeling nothing less than wondrous.

Maxis! Simcity looks awesome
Maxis! Simcity looks awesome and I'm really looking forward to try it out!!!
I have one question for you: Will we be able to load saved games?
I can see there might be some problems associated with loading earlier multiplayer saves, but I think it is important to have the ability to load single player saves.
- I don't want to build an entire city from scratch every time i want to try out a disaster...
regards old simcity fan
With the game being
With the game being completely online now, I don't think that would be possible. Now I'm wondering, how will the cheat they're talking about work?
This is pure speculation
This is pure speculation based on no fact whatsoever, but when someone creates a new region, public or private, it could be there's an option for cheats to be enabled or not.
I get the impression that
I get the impression that multiplayer games are going to be like many online games in that whenever you log off, your personal game is frozen in that state until you return... even if other people have built their cities around it in an envelope... it'll just sit there merrily and chug out resources at the same rate as the last time you played it.
I'm pretty sure that single player will have the same load/save/new system as the classic games.
@ indexea :The game isn't
@ indexea :The game isn't completely online. Why do you think they sell it on disc?
I have literally had dreams
I have literally had dreams about a new Sim City and Maxis since SC4 and I hear people saying alot they CAN NOT wait for a game to come out, well I now know how they feel.
This is not WOW or any one of
This is not WOW or any one of a hundred on-line games that are only multi player. Give us a break. Trying to revitalize The Sims on-line with Sim City is a non-starter.
I’m worried that Maxis may
I’m worried that Maxis may focus too much on online play trying to get everyone to work together like CitiesXL did, we all know how that turned out. Maxis, can you call the execs at EA and tell them you’re going to make a really good single player game, and not get greedy like CitiesXL did and try some revenue generating, subscription based, pointless online version.
Thanks.
There is so much good coming
There is so much good coming from all of this. I am definitely a huge fan of all the great work. The options are endless with this. I hope they keep it going.www.ballancedisplay.com
