i really like the game but i can't play it

Derp.

Herp.

Here is a link to the SimCity 5 Reddit AMA, the link is uncensored and unedited by the SimCity marketing department.
It is very important to note that without being constantly online you will not be able to play the game. The worst kind of DRM.
You would think EA would have learn't from Blizzard's experience with Diablo 3, apparently not though.
Don't support aggressive DRM. Don't buy this game.

I have to disagree, I already pre-ordered along with 3 of my friends and it seems my guild from another game 4 of them are getting it. Gaming in the future, you have the right to vote with your wallet, but alas it won't stop people as myself whom enjoy a good idea. I am here for entertainment, not a movement. Keep your post at reddit.

Dude, just KEEP YOUR STUPID RANTING ABOUT THIS CLASSIC GAME ON YOUR OWN WEBSITE!!!!

Maybe i should try this game out?

see this

Same here but i don't understand it at all

its not out yet...

PLEASE DONT MESS UP THIS GAME :/ The graphics look a little fuzy and childish... Make them a bit more realistic! I hope that you make different types of terrain and wethear patterns! That would go nice with the whole resources concept :) And please make the whole interface more appealing like in sim city 3 ( ordinance system, concerned citizens spamming you, more bussiness deals, stuff like that )
Dont let us down!

The graphics are fine at this stage. In fact, I kinda enjoy this type of laidback graphics. However, I also think that EA and Maxis should add in some texture DLC for those who want a more realistic feel to their city. Besides, I'm more for the gameplay part of SimCity. Like you said, I do hope that they will return different types of terrain from SC3000. Building a city in a green paradise kinda gets old after a while.

I agree 100%. I want the rugged look of a city not some Dora the explorer looking childish game. The graphics look a little playgroundesque. I was really looking for a better version of Simcity 3 and 4.

I want realistic looking game too. The Sims and CitiesXL are there for cartoon graphics.

CitiesXL looks cartoonish? You should get some glasses dude.

I disagree. I don't think they look childish, rather, I think (from a technical perspective) They lack specular bump maps, so they don't look shiny. Other than that, I think they achieved the "tilt-shift" look quite nicely. Yes, I would love to have Direct X 11 shaders with battlefield style lighting, effects (flares and such), but I think my computer might explode if it tried to run effects like that while simulating hudreds of thousands individual sims

same i really enjoy those graphics, the look smooth and fit well for the game

I would not mind these graphics if they helped with system performance. But knowing maxis this will not be the case and I'm betting the game with be very sluggish on systems with their expected system specs. My money is on this game will a "New" system to run at full, and for what..? A cartoon.

The only reason why the graphics is the way it is, is that (I think) you can take pictures/screenshots of the city in TiltShift mode. Correct me if I am wrong.... :)

and the graphics shouldn't be that bad if they require higher end graphics to play.

How do you make the city looks realistic when the sims are cartoonish (we obviously have to expect that the sims will looks like those of sims3 maybe improved a little if lucky, but they won't look like real people)... The only way to make the city looks "real" is if the inhabitant match the realism...
I'm not so much obsessed with graphisms tbh, but far more on the gameplay, features, that kind of details, I'll be unmerciful on that regard. If it's too "easy", it will fail badly... I don't mind if it's easy to use, but it has to have some sort of complexity like a real city...

But I've gotta give you something the first trailer with that power plant in the middle, looks deadly cool...and I wished it looked like that, but it doesnt seem to match, so I kind of understand your frustration a little bit...

The graphics are nowhere near complete, they even said so during E3. I'm positive they are working on improving the engine. What we have seen in videos has mostly been Alpha footage, if you don't know what that means its the first version of the game will all the different game elements combined. So the graphics engine isnt of concern until everything else is refined and most of the kinks are worked out. Now for the Beta version the graphics should be close to how they will look for release. We wont know what that looks like until the most up to date trailer is release probably sometime before/after Christmas. The game is slated for release until next year so dont worry most of your concerns are probably already completely fixed if not works in progress.

I agree with that description... Please make it like that.

I enjoy that the different visuals seem to reference historical architecture. The above piece seems to have a lot of nods to 1930's and 1940's buildings...

I like the new look. My biggest concerns are camera movement (I hope it is very similar to the Tropico(R) standard) and the delivery systems for utilities, mostly water and disease. I really like where this is going and hope SIMS will have greater integration with Sim City! I wasn't so excited at first but I'm pretty faithful, now, that Maxis EA will provide a great new series!

LOVE this look! I do not want a "realistic" looking city. They are ugly and drab. This is beautiful and what I'd expect to see as a sequel to SimCity 4. Simcity 4 also had an illustrated model-like look. Keep up the good work!!

are you kidding?

I agree

I should have written I agree SimsCity looks fine the way it is. I don't want realism. It starts to look dated after awhile.

Agreed. Realistic cities (or games trying hard to mimic realism) tend to go overboard and we wouldn't want the SimCity cities to go overboard, right?? Besides the graphics does look great the way it is... :)

To be honest I'm a little worried about the color scheme. I hope this is not the final look color-wise, the buildings seem too childish, they look like toys rather than a real city.

It all looks so wonderful - Please post more pictures :) any chance you could put up images related to the city public transportation options? I am really looking forward to playing simcity in 2013!

Wish we didn't have to wait until 2013, I wanna play it now! haha, it looks like it's gonna be great when it comes out though :D

I hope this game can be more realistic and have a better graphic than SimCity 4. Not like this one. It look so cartoon. We want realistic one.

I will have to absolutely agree with you on that. I loved the look of SimCity 4, but this one looks really childish and like a cartoon. That is one of the reasons I didn't like SimCity Social. It just didn't have that feel to it. I enjoy the smooth edges and great textures but I was looking for something a little more rugged. Hopefully, they game won't disappoint. On a side note. In the little game trailer shown. That is how I want my buildings to look. Now that would be a SimCity to remember.

I meant Societies not Social, sorry :)

I'd prefer realism to realistic.

On a separate note, you guys should probably get in touch with the NAM Team which has been providing patches and additional content for SimCity 4 since EZ abandoned it years ago.

I personally think that simcity 4 is better than this (so far) This does not look realistic at all... The picture above is not a city, its a couple of buildings and curvey roads. Cities have low density and in one area high density, not all scattered all over the place. This game looks like you manually place each building not massively zone areas and let them grow by themselves. This game looks like simcity societies which really sucked. And will there be farms? And P.S thats the cheesiest city hall I've ever seen. It looks like a cartoon!

I'm not sure it's supposed to be a city hall. It's appears to be a model of the Rotunda at the University of Virginia (which makes sense due to the nature of the image). It's possible that it acts as a city hall in a town centered on education, though. Since SC4, I'm used to a high attention to detail and though I find the image of the rotunda recognizable, it's not really realistic at all. I drive past the building once a week and the dimensions are quite off. The actual building is as broad as it is tall. It is the highlight of Jeffersonian architecture and as a Charlottesville native, I'm really disappointed if that is supposed to be a 'landmark' building in the game. Seriously, it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Make it look realistic and be accurate otherwise this whole game will just have a ridiculous and (at least to me) a disappointing appearance.

I can't wait to play this. But I get the feeling we are not getting weather but in an expansion pack. Also i'm afraid my laptop won't play it and my desktop only has a 1 gb graphics card. Will it need a 2gb? Not sure I can upgrade the desktop anymore without bottlenecking it. :(

is it possible to build your city using the previous versions before this, and import into the new version?

Sorry EA and maxis but the graphs are absoloutly shit. Who want to play a game with children graphics. We would like to have the graphics like in the announcment trailer. The graphic in Sim City 4 looks better than that shit.

Sry for the grammatic , i'm not english

Simcity is also working with UNESCO to build a glossary of technical terms related to the draft recommendation. The work is starting in English and French and it is expected to cover all official languages. Should you be interested by this aspect of the work, please let the International Secretariat know, at the above mentioned e-mail address.Click Here

after so many years, finally and extreme awesome

I'm going to have to agree with what everyone else said about the graphics. If this is remotely close to what the game is going to look like, I'm sorry to say that it will be a profound disappointment. After all of these years of waiting, you're going to create the next "real" SimCity with cartoonish, unrealistic graphics? Didn't we already go through this crap with Societies?

I don't want to sound like I'm overreacting here, but if you truly want to create a game that REAL SimCity fans want, then you need to listen to what they want and deliver what they want. That means GOOD graphics and REALISTIC imagery. Not this Disney Channel crap.

I like the realistic roads.

I think it has some realism to it while also having that unique sandboxy feel to it. I like that it incorporates both those elements together. This is what makes all the simcity games unique: Having some realistic elements but at the same time, having that feeling where you dominate over everything within your grasp. You get to play mayor & Deity at the same time.

For those of you that think it's childish; It's supposed to feel a little like that. Like any imaginative child, you get to paint the urban landscape however you want. This game requires you to have an imagination (which everybody does & every child treasures). So in result, that's what games like this encourage; To release your inner child!

i like it too

will there be an option to play offline? or do you have to allways play and build on multiplayer? thanks in advance

Although stated that you need to be online to play, they stated that if your connection breaks, you can still play, because multiplayer is asynchronous.

So you need a connection to play but if your connection breaks you can still play???
