SimCity Update 5
Hey everyone – here’s a quick SimCity development update. My name is Kyle Dunham and I’m an Assistant Producer on SimCity. I’m also part of the Live Operations team working to improve your gameplay experience.
I just wanted to give you a little insight on the progress we made yesterday and our priorities for this week. Like Lucy mentioned in our update yesterday, we’ve begun upgrading several of our servers to both increase their capacity and mitigate connection issues. This process has been going well and we successfully upgraded 10 servers yesterday: NA West 2, EU West 1-4, EU East 2-3, and Oceanic 1-2. Today we’re working on upgrading our remaining servers, so bear with us as we take them offline one-by-one to perform these upgrades. While this is going on, we also released the new server South America today, bringing our total server count up to 24, including our Test server. While this is going on, we’re also improving the overall gameplay experience. We’ve already started addressing some of the issues we’ve been seeing with some of our players are having with trading intermittency and cities rolling back.

Forget Cheetah speed, when
Forget Cheetah speed, when are they going to fix the pathfinding AI??? Tired of seeing all of my fire trucks make circles around the building, stopping just after the building burns down, and then trying to make a beeline back to the firehouse while another fire is blazing on the other side of the map! And sometimes, staring at some of those traffic jams blow my mind. Why would they take the jam packed side road when the avenue is completely clear? I don't want to see this nonsense in super speed, I want it fixed.

Completely agree. In my SC session last night my city encountered several fires, and all the fire trucks did was circle the block until the fire had smoldered the building. Then this morning there was another fire and none of the fire stations responded to the fire at all.
The pathfinder bugs are serious, It should be fixed ASAP.

I agree completely, path
I agree completely, path-finding issues are starting to ruin this game. I would also like to know when I will be able to add my friends (within SimCity) and actually play with them. It appears all of the multiplayer features are down, including global market.

Pathfinding is indeed weird, but it's just one of the many gameplay issues. Honestly though, buildings burning down needlessly is annoying, but ultimately I don't care so much. The traffic jams are more annoying. Trading/sharing issues are defeating the whole point of playing together as well, so I'm not sure what should be prioritized really :)
I built a ******* fire
I built a ******* fire-station across the street from a plot of land that would inevitably incinerate the building that stood upon it. A firetruck from the other side of the city would invariably get the call, and instead of using the brand new *working* roads I made, the truck would get stuck in traffic, and arrive just in time to make the block twice before the building became ash. The fire-station works, the roads all connect. I even built another two fire-stations near the site, and still none of them would get the call. I will play again once it's fixed.
I've been itching for cheetah
I've been itching for cheetah speed, too. I also can't wait until the servers are able to handle inter-city play properly. It's really annoying when my sewage just randomly shuts down because the server sucks, or when my water randomly says it's polluted even though I'm getting clean sewage completely from a non-polluted city. It's also really annoying when I send tons of supplies to a great work and it takes ten minutes for the server to even recognize it's gotten there. All that is annoying, but the worst is missing Cheetah speed. It's like they got rid of the login cue and just built it into the game by making it run slower.

It still shows cheetah speed but it actually goes no faster than llama. Both llama and cheetah speed are set at the same right now.

It's been a week and I'm still not satisfied with this product. I don't care what you are doing, Kyle. You should never have released this game in the state that it is in. As you do not have the moral inegrity to offer refunds, I have instructed my bank to charge back.

Really? Can you blame the guy for trying to get his cash back after waiting 6 days for a reasonably stable product? Not everyone can play at 4am when server load is light.
Most of the application sale was through Origin and they could have easily determined the volume of players and the regions in which they live, and the likely time of day they play.

This should stop the PRESS... It annoys me when they over do things. Things happen and the PRESS just make things worse than they really are. Thanks for such a great game. I look forward to seeing what else you have in stored for us the gamer's.

I have played all the SimCity
I have played all the SimCity / The Sims and most other games from Maxis, I love the style of the game and i hate to say this after anticipating this game for so long but.... The game is boring. Im sorry I dont know what it is but I cant spend more than a hour or 2 without getting bored. I dont know if its the small regions separated by so much space. But something is stopping my immersion into the game.
I could play SimCity 4 for hours and hours I could see the changes/improvements i made INSTANTLY I had a VAST playable space that I could choose to build small at the start or plan everything out before even pressing play. I dont know what it is but when im playing SimCity 5 I feel like im "Watching" not "Playing" and sad to say the other night while waiting a stupid amount of time for my funds to come in i fell asleep while playing. I hope things improve, but the core of the game the things which are annoying me will probably never be fixed which saddens me.
