Guten tag, Mayors! We’re coming to you live from Cologne, Germany at the uber awesome, uber eventful, and uber packed consumer and press event Gamescom where we’re amped to announce a ton of breaking SimCity news we just released at the EA press conference.
First up, we revealed the first details about the all-new SimCity World feature designed to keep you connected with both your friends and, yep, the world. Whether it’s competing or collaborating in Global Challenges, checking your spot on the leaderboard, buying/selling resources in the Global Market, or keeping tabs on what your friends are up to with CityLog, SimCity World really pops the notion of isolated cities living in a bubble. If you want to learn even more about how SimCity World works, we got you covered - check back here next week for a detailed commentary from the Maxis team. In the meantime, take a look at the sweet new Gamescom trailer to get a first-hand look at SimCity World.
Like what you see? Just wait until you can play it.
And for some of you, the wait won’t be long thanks to our first big announcement: beta! Yep, you asked for it - we’ll be running an exclusive beta before SimCity’s launch that will give a generous group of lucky fans an opportunity to not only don their mayor hats early, but also have a chance to provide valuable feedback straight to the team here at Maxis. We’ll be releasing more details on the beta soon, so in the meantime, visit the beta section of SimCity.com to sign up today.
We’re also super pleased to announce that we’re coming to the Mac! As all of our long-time fans know, the Maxis studio has always been a huge supporter of Mac, so now you have power to change both the world and your operating system.
Phew! That’s a lot of stuff. But we’re not done yet! We’ve also laid down the foundation for SimCity Insider, the brand new section of SimCity.com where you’ll receive tons of exclusive content you won’t find anywhere else. Will you get new stuff every month? Nope. Every two weeks? Not quite. Try this: Every single week SimCity Insider will release all kinds of exciting stuff you won’t find anywhere else. Sign up right now and get not one, but two Insider-only screenshots and a SimCity ringtone. And the best part? It’s completely free!
And, of course, I’ll also be keeping you updated with all the latest news, excitement, and wacky Gamescom adventures on Twitter, Facebook, and right here on SimCity.com. Remember, you can get your hands on SimCity at our booth, so if you’re attending the show, stop by, play the game, and say, “Hello!” Or “Guten tag!” Or whatever language you speak!
